Alcaparron

We have been waiting for these for a while and now we've got them!

Alcaparron is the Spanish word for the fruit that develops from the thorny caper bush "Capparis Spinosa". Our caper berries are grown in southern Spain, where the bush's long roots hold the dry earth together preventing it from washing away when the rains arrive. So not only do they make a great addition to any tapas plate they are an important environmental crop for the Spanish.

We are stocking "Fines" grade caper berries which are regarded as the finest caper berries. Fines refers to the size of the berry. There is a larger size "Gruesas", however they tend to be a bit seedy!

From the same supplier we also have preserved hot Pirri Pirri chillies for those wanting to add a little extra piquancy to their dishes. Or for those who love crunching chillies!
