Proper Packaging!

We've got a new gadget here at Silver&Green which allows us to take otherwise "done for" cardboard and give it a new lease of life as void fill packaging. It takes cardboard like the shot above and shreds it to look like the shot below. Normally I wouldn't take the time to tell you about something that really doesn't taste so great... but stuffing more and more plastic air filled cushions into boxes had been getting us all down. No more! And its rather therapeutic shredding it up.

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Excitement! We have just taken delivery of our new organic extra virgin olive oil. The oil is produced using organic Manaki olives grown in the mountains of the Peloponesse. The olive groves are situated around the village of Eleohorion, which translates as "The village of olive oil". So not only does it get to your table unadulterated by modern intensive farming method it also has a pedigree as oil has been made in the same way in this village for thousands of years.

It will be available in 250ml, 500ml and 5L with a recommended retail price of £5.95, £7.95 and £49.95 respectively.

Alcaparron

We have been waiting for these for a while and now we've got them!

Alcaparron is the Spanish word for the fruit that develops from the thorny caper bush "Capparis Spinosa". Our caper berries are grown in southern Spain, where the bush's long roots hold the dry earth together preventing it from washing away when the rains arrive. So not only do they make a great addition to any tapas plate they are an important environmental crop for the Spanish.

We are stocking "Fines" grade caper berries which are regarded as the finest caper berries. Fines refers to the size of the berry. There is a larger size "Gruesas", however they tend to be a bit seedy!

From the same supplier we also have preserved hot Pirri Pirri chillies for those wanting to add a little extra piquancy to their dishes. Or for those who love crunching chillies!
