A couple of the most asked questions here at Silver & Green are why are you called Silver & Green and how come your selling olives for a living and not doing a proper job? Well, the answer to the first question is easy. I chose to name my company Silver & Green because of the leaves of the fruit which provide the cornerstone of our product range. The underside of an olive leaf has a silvery sheen to it and the topside is green of course. So when the sun shines on a hillside olive grove the whole thing shimmers in different shades of silver and green.

The answer to the second question isn't as straight forward. I've always loved food! That's mostly down to my mother and colleague at work Sue. She is a passionate cook who has always brought delicious real food to the table. I've also always been interested in where food comes from. This is easy to find out when you live in Cumbria, you pretty much look out the door and there it all is. However it is this curiosity which lead me towards the origins of the more exotic (if you can call it that these days) foods I was eating as I ventured out into the world. As an enthusiastic cyclist and a lazy scholar I spent a lot of time when I should have been studying in the mountains of Spain, France and Italy living off olives, bread and ham meeting people that would later help me to find what I was looking for for Silver & Green. Its the people I met when I thought I was bunking off that have lead me to all this hard work now.

In 2007 we (we being me, Dan and my mum and dad, Sue and Rob) started Silver  & Green. We began with a small line of olives sourced from a co-operative of farmers on main land Greece. The range grew as we added new customers locally and began to spread our reach in to southern Scotland and down in to Lancashire and beyond. The trend has continued and we now have an ever expanding range of olives, olive oil and antipasti products and distribute our products to delicatessens as far north as Aberdeen and down on to the south coast.
